Patricia Walton (Tricia) is the Director/CEO of Carclew Youth Arts and was appointed in June 2008. Prior to this Tricia was Manager, Industry Development at Carclew Youth Arts from mid 2004 to late 2006 with the responsibility of advocacy and industry and professional development for youth arts companies and young and emerging artists to the age of 26.
Recently Tricia was the Director, Arts Programs, at Country Arts SA where she was responsible for the teams developing and delivering performing arts and visual arts experiences throughout regional South Australia, along with the regional arts development staff located around the State.
Tricia’s previous experience includes Company Manager of Kurruru Indigenous Youth Performing Arts (originally Port Youth Theatre Workshop).
For many years Tricia has been involved in community cultural development (often referred to as community arts). She believes strongly in social justice and an equitable society and these principles inform this work. As Training Manager at the Community Arts Network of SA (from 1991 to 2000) Tricia jointly developed the Graduate Diploma in Community Cultural Development (1995) now recognised nationally with over 105 graduates.
Tricia has a degree in literary studies and a graduate diploma (Education and Training of Adults) and has also worked as an editor, tutor and facilitator. Her first job was fixing children’s teeth in school dental clinics.
