EXECUTIVE OFFICER - TORBEN BROOKMAN
Director
Torben Brookman has worked in the performing arts and entertainment industry in Australia and throughout Asian in various roles for the last 15 years. He is currently a director of Asia Theatricals and GWB Entertainment. Torben is also the Executive Officer for the Arts Industry Council of South Australia and Producer at the Adelaide Festival Corporation.
From 2005 to 2010, Torben ran Arts Asia Pacific producing and touring many productions throughout Asia and Australia. Highlights included the Australian and New Zealand premiere of 'Avenue Q' which went on to win 5 Helpmann Awards in 2010, the arena production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in Seoul and Busan, the Korean premiere of 'We Will Rock You' in Seoul, the Chinese premiere of 'Slavas Snowshow' in Shanghai as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea as well as presenting Compangnie Philippe Genty and Erth throughout Asia.
In 2001, Torben joined The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific and worked as Associate Producer on the International Tour of Cats, which from 2001 - 2004 toured to Lebanon, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei (twice), Beijing, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Gothenburg and Doha. As Company Manager on the Asian tour The Phantom of the Opera (2004 to 2006) destinations include Shanghai, Seoul, Taipei and Hong Kong and as Production Coordinator, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (2001 - Great Hall of the People, Beijing and Shanghai Grand Theatre), The Phantom of the Opera (2001 Korean language production in Seoul), Australian productions, The Graduate, Grease the Mega Musical and Shout!.
In 2001 Torben founded Fresh Track Productions, which operated as an active independent producer from 2001 - 2005. During this time Fresh Track produced, The Return (Adelaide Fringe 2002, Australian Festival for Young People (AFYP) 2003, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2003 (Nominated for Best Production) and 6th Australian Performing Arts Market 2004), Morph (Adelaide Fringe 2004), Songs for the Deaf (Adelaide Fringe 2004), Disco Pigs (B Sharp at Company B Belvoir 2003), Marathon (AFYP 2005, Old Fitz 2005) Bend it Like Bollywood I and II 2003, Bollywood Vibes (2004 Adelaide Cabaret Festival) and management of singer/songwriter Liam Gerner.
